This is Tonstad, an original oil painting on a hard surface called a cradled panel. There are several interesting characteristic of this surface not least the lack of spring found in canvas allows firm marks to be made with tools such as knives, skewers, bristle brushes etc.
The scene is Tonstad in south west Norway, the painting was produced in the Stavanger studio from sketches made at the scene and some photography captured by a drone. this is part of a collection of paintings showing a dramatic natural skyline set against a contrasting sky that throws it into silhouette and gives interesting values in tone as well as pleasing texture of paint.
